" Emma & Kevin were the perfect hosts for a couples' weekend break.
The woodburner was on when we arrived to create a cosy atmosphere.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Spotlessly clean & quiet and the woodfired hot tub was fantastic!
Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again".

Relax in a Wood-Fired Hot Tub
One of Oystercatcher’s standout features (and guest favourites) is its completely private wood-fired hot tub. Situated just beside the cottage & screened by willow hurdles & a beech hedge, the tub beckons you to soak under open skies in perfect seclusion.
We prepare the hot tub for you – using fresh water and locally & sourced wood – so it’s warm & ready when you are (no fiddling or long waits). Sink in as steam rises around you, perhaps with a glass of wine in hand, gazing up at the stars peppering the clear night sky.
As one guest described, “the hot tub at night under the
stars made our stay truly magical.”
In the daytime, it’s equally delightful – imagine a lazy sunny afternoon immersed in warm water with birds chirping in the trees. Our wood-fired tubs are chemical-free and eco-friendly, providing a gentle, natural soak that leaves you rejuvenated. It’s a unique luxury Devon retreat with wood-fired hot tub experience you won’t forget.

Perfect for romantic getaways & small family stays
Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon,or just craving some quality time together, Oystercatcher is perfect for romantic getaways. The setting is peaceful and intimate: just you, your loved one & the quiet hush of the countryside. Enjoy candlelit dinners at the cottage’s bistro table (we can even arrange a romantic countryside private woodfired cookery workshop).
Cuddle up by the fire after a day of exploring Devon or share stories under a blanket of stars by the outdoor fire pit we can set up for you. In the mornings, throw open the French doors to let in the fresh country air & sunshine as you plan the day’s adventures.
Perhaps you’ll wander hand-in-hand through the fields or take a short stroll to the charming village pub for lunch or supper. Back at your retreat, every moment feels exclusive & unhurried. We’ve added thoughtful touches – from fluffy towels and organic toiletries, to maps & walking guides for outings – to make your stay effortless & special.
Oystercatcher is also family-friendly in a romantic way: we happily welcome your baby (under 12 months) & we’re dog-friendly here too (see our Dog-Friendly stays page for details). So if your idea of romance includes your fur baby by your side or introducing your newborn to nature, we’ve got you covered.
In short, this private Devon cottage is an idyllic love nest – cosy, elegant, and utterly relaxing. We can’t wait to welcome you for a magical escape.

"Emma & Kevin went above & beyond and were perfect hosts, accommodating all our needs at the drop of a hat & could not have been more approachable & welcoming.
Things that are often overlooked were perfect. Cleanliness & small touches here & there show how passionate they are as a couple to ensure their guests are comfortable and have just what they need.
We will certainly visit again & would advise anyone wanting to escape a busy life to use this place as a beautiful quiet retreat.
A beautiful location run by a wonderful couple. Thank you for making our weekend so special."
