We are Kevin and Emma Ireland & we're proud to welcome you to Mill Cross Retreats- where we hope to give you the opportunity to stop, relax & recharge your batteries in a natural environment.
We've lived in Devon for over 30 years & are passionate about supporting independent, local businesses, the environment, organic & sustainability.
We moved to Mill Cross from Totnes in 2018 with the idea that we wanted to offer exceptional quiet, relaxing places for couples to stay. At the time, Kevin was a carpenter & Emma was running a wedding catering business. Being passionate about local community & nature, we knew Rattery was the right place- well located between Dartmoor & the sea, close to Totnes & Dartington, Ben's Farm Shop, friendly & with a brilliant local pub- The Church House Inn!
What's the skinny?
Mill Cross Retreats has grown organically to be a little haven where we look after our 6 acres of land, manage the trees, grow fruit & vegetables, keep goats, chickens & our beloved Spaniel, "Juno".
In summer 2022, we found our cat "Pickles" in a car engine & she's become a core fixture- very popular with guests & family alike.
We are committed to being as eco-conscious as possible- we use organic toiletries, cleaning & washing products, create wildlife havens on our land, grow fruit & vegetables organically without pesticdes. We buy local and support local, green-minded, ethical and independent businesses & hope you will too. If you're interested in our Green Values, read more here.
What's new?
We established The Bakehouse @ Mill Cross Retreats in 2022 to build on our experience of running a woodfired catering business & now offer private organic woodfired dining & cookery classes & a bookable meeting space for teams.
What matters to us?
When we're not working, we like to spend time with our 6 children & 8 grandchildren, walk on Dartmoor with friends, cycle, visit NT properties, go to music gigs& eat lovely, local food. We have even hosted one family wedding here!
