The Oystercatcher

Peaceful annexe holiday cottage in South Devonwith woodburning stove, woodfired hot tub & lovely views;  dog friendly*, baby friendly*

Quiet & cosy; beautiful, thoughtfully planned & furnished Oystercatcher annexe holiday cottage with a private woodfired hot tub to enjoy the stars at night is yours for a luxurious, cosy and romantic "get away from it all"  stay at Mill Cross Retreats.

We are in beautiful Rattery, a  quiet village, set in 6 peaceful acres.  We are committed to giving you the best possible experience for your luxurious, romantic break away from it all by adding all the little extras you might need to make your stay as relaxing, refreshing & recharging as possible. Come and see why hundreds of guests have given us 5* reviews!  We are just a stones throw from one of the oldest and best pubs in Devon- The Church House Inn, Rattery-with excellent local food and drink.

Lovely organic welcome pack with Luscombe elderflower, homemade biscotti, organic Pukka & Clipper teas & hot chocolate, Grumpy Mule ground coffee & local Riverford dairy or oat milk. We also provide olive oil, salt & pepper in grinders and herbs.  Details of bookable extras such as homemade organic cream teas, homemade sourdough & butter, chilled Prosecco and locally sourced breakfast packs are sent when you book.

We are committed to sourcing local, sustainable & organic & we hope you will join us in supporting local & independent too. We are very lucky to have a brilliant range of farm shops & independent food and drink shops near to us- especially Ben's Farm Shop (part of the Riverford family) which has just about all you might need for your stay.

You will find everything you need here, including a lovely, light open plan living area with dining table, well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa & wood burning stove (wood & kindling provided), with lovely views over the surrounding fields through the French windows.

There is a small covered terrace outside with table and chairs to sit and enjoy your food, a coffee or something a little stronger...... we can also lend you a firepit or bucket BBQ. You will look out over your own garden area and onto the fields beyond.

The bathroom has a large shower & the comfy double bed has organic linen, duck & goose down pillows & Devon wool duvet. Hairdryer, towels & lovely eco- friendly Faith in Nature toiletries are provided.

The cottage has its own private woodfired hot tub. Unlike electric hot tubs, this uses fresh water & no chemicals-so is a real treat under the stars or on a lazy afternoon. We will light it & bring it up to temperature for you. This requires 24 hours notice & is available most of the time provided we are here! The hot tub is £50 for two consecutive uses.  It can only be used for two consecutive days before it needs to be drained and cleaned. The hot tub is 1.8m diameter & has a fibreglass liner, steps up & integral woodburner-a really unique experience.

We’re happy to accept babies under . Regrettably, the property is not suitable for older children.

You might choose to book a private woodfired cookery class or crafting course  inThe Bakehouse.

If you follow us on Social Media or see our blogs, you will find plenty of great suggestions for places to go & things to do, but we also have a welcome book, guidebooks, maps & Devon Life magazines to inspire you. Plus we are around & very happy to give advice & tips when needed.

1 (occasionally 2) well  behaved small/medium dog/s (preferably crate trained) welcome strictly by prior arrangement at an additional charge of £45 (£50 for two) per stay. Dogs are not allowed on the sofa or bed.  We cannot take bookings with dogs until  you contact Emma who will send you the Ts & Cs. Due to our lovely soft furnishings, we cannot take large/shaggy dogs. Please note, any damage caused by your dog will be charged to you.

We can provide safe bike storage if you would like to take advantage of the cycle routes.

We keep free-range chickens, non free-range goats and have a Working Cocker spaniel, Juno and a very friendly barn cat, Mrs Pickles. You are welcome to explore our space and sit in our meadow and enjoy the views with a glass of wine.

Our minimum stay is 2 nights & we take check ins & outs on any day of the week. If you book for 7 nights, you only pay for 6 and there is a discount for 4 night midweek or 3 night weeked stays. Please contact Emma if you need any help

KIND WORDS

"Emma & Kevin went above & beyond and were perfect hosts, accommodating all our needs at the drop of a hat & could not have been more approachable & welcoming.

Things that are often overlooked were perfect. Cleanliness & small touches here & there show how passionate they are as a couple to ensure their guests are comfortable and have just what they need.

We will certainly visit again & would advise anyone wanting to escape a busy life to use this place as a beautiful quiet retreat.

A beautiful location run by a wonderful couple. Thank you for making our weekend so special."

Chris
